The Housing and Economic Recovery Act of 2008 authorized a temporary increase in the loan limits of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac from $417,000 to as high as $729,750. These new “Jumbo-Conforming” loan limits are in effect until December 31, 2008 and vary by state and county.
